Materials for Die Casting

Main alloy materials used in die casting include tin, lead, zinc, aluminum, magnesium, and copper. Zinc and aluminum alloys are the most widely used, followed by magnesium and copper alloys. Currently, zinc, aluminum, and magnesium alloys are the primary materials used in the electronics industry.

Die Casting Zinc Alloy

Zinc alloys have excellent fluidity in the molten state and a low melting point of only 365 degrees Celsius. They can undergo various post-processing treatments, such as electroplating. Therefore, they have a wide range of applications. They were previously widely used in the mobile phone industry, but due to their large size and poor corrosion resistance, they have been gradually phased out by aluminum alloys. The most common application is in the bathroom fixtures industry.

Die Casting Aluminum Alloy

Aluminum alloys have low density but relatively high strength, approaching or exceeding that of high-quality steel. They have good plasticity and can be processed into various profiles. They possess excellent electrical and thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance, and are widely used in industry, second only to steel in terms of usage. Aluminum alloys have a specific weight only about one-third that of iron, making them crucial in various industries, especially in the lightweighting processes of aircraft, ships, automobiles, and electronic instruments.

Die-cast Magnesium Alloys

Magnesium alloys are alloys composed of magnesium as the base element and other elements. Their characteristics include: low density, high specific strength, high specific modulus of elasticity, good heat dissipation, good shock absorption, greater impact load capacity than aluminum alloys, and good resistance to corrosion from organic substances and alkalis. Magnesium's specific gravity is approximately two-thirds that of aluminum and one-quarter that of iron. Therefore, it is widely used in mobile phones, communication equipment, automotive parts, and medical devices.
